My name is Emily Lawrence, and I'm a doctoral candidate in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My primary research interests are in political philosophy in LIS, readers & reading, and aesthetics (especially taste and recommendation). 

I earned a BA in comparative literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and an MLS from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to beginning the doctoral program at Illinois, I worked in reference and web services at the National Library of Medicine.
